Do tutorials, Download Scripts, and use those as a base for your fractals. That's what i do.e.g For the 'Star of Poseidon' i started with the Julia Grand 3D script. Also use the pitch option in the adjust menu to give your fractals the 3D plain look. Hope that's good enough

lol like i said, fiddle with the settings to get a feel for how the settings affect the images, and check out tutorials and stuff
